Ruigang Li founded CMC Capital in 2010 and currently serves as Founding Managing Partner, Chairman of the Firm and Chairman of the Management Committee of CMC Capital. He is actively involved in deal sourcing, investment evaluation and value creation, for which he leverages his industry network, operating know-how, and regulatory insights. Under his leadership, CMC Capital has become a leading private equity firm in Greater China with a focus on the Technology, Consumer and Media sectors. Mr. Li is also Chairman and CEO of CMC Inc., a media and entertainment conglomerate known for its prominent strengths in multi-genre premium content creation and related businesses.

Mr. Li has over 30 years of experience and insights in media operation and investment, in China and in the international media landscape. Prior to founding CMC, Mr. Li was the Chairman and the President of Shanghai Media Group (SMG) for more than ten years. He previously also served as the Chief of Staff of Shanghai Municipal Government. Now Mr. Li is founding Dean of School of Creativity and Art of Shanghai Tech University, and Board Member of Special Olympics. Li holds BA and MA degrees in Journalism from Fudan University, and was a visiting scholar at Columbia University.

Alex joined CMC Capital in 2013 and currently serves as Managing Partner and Management Committee member of CMC Capital. During his time at CMC Capital, Alex has led investments into leading companies in their respective sectors, including without limitation: Bilibili, Ele.me, Kuaishou, iQiyi, Full Truck Alliance, Meicai, NetEase Music, Leqee, Dingdong, Perfect Diary, Yishou, KK Group, Hongjiu Fruits, XPX aka Chubby Bear, Energy Monster, WeRide, XXD Freshly Cooked Bird Nest, etc.

Prior to joining the Firm, Alex was a Director at Providence Equity Partners, where he focused on various investments, including those in the online video, broadcasting, and digital media sectors, etc. Prior to that, Alex worked at Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia (“MSPEA”) focusing on investments in Greater China.

Alex received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics Engineering from Tsinghua University.

Wei Choy joined CMC Capital in 2016 and currently serves as Managing Partner and Management Committee member of CMC Capital. During his time at CMC Capital, Wei Choy has led investments into the following companies: CAA, New Rank, Neobio, M Stand, Taishan Beer, etc.

Prior to joining the Firm, Wei Choy was a senior team member at Pavilion Capital, where he spent over three years, from 2012 to 2015, focusing on funds and direct investments in the Consumer and Technology sectors in China.

From 2004 to 2012, Wei Choy was at Standard Chartered Bank assuming various senior leadership roles across multiple functions in Strategy/M&A, Affluent Customer Management, and Marketing. He was the Regional Head of Marketing for Standard Chartered Bank, where he led and executed the marketing agenda across the business and made a distinct shift towards digital and mobile marketing.

From 2000 to 2004, Wei Choy worked for Boston Consulting Group, where he advised clients across multiple industries on partnerships/acquisitions, growth/new business strategies and re-organization in South East Asia and China.

Wei Choy received a Bachelor of Engineering degree (1st) in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Singapore.

Sean joined CMC capital in 2022 and currently serves as Partner.

During his time at CMC Capital, he focuses on semiconductor and digital hard tech sectors, with expertise in private market investment and M&A field. Prior to joining the firm, Sean was a partner of Sensetime AI industry fund and head of strategic M&A at Sensetime, leading investment in AI, semiconductor and intelligent vehicle technologies. His representative investments in his specialized fields include WeRide、X-EPIC and Akrostar.

Prior to joining Sensetime, Sean worked as China head of Deutsche Bank Financial Sponsors Group, China head of strategic equity at HSBC as well as executive director at UBS Investment Bank.

Sean received Bachelor of Economics degree from Fudan University, and PhD in Financial Economics and JD degrees both from Cornell University.
